About DAMS
DAMS Stands for: Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions
DAMS is a tax-exempt educational non-profit organization In its educational work, DAMS discusses dental mercury, water fluoridation, the dental use of fluoride and other controversial health issues in dentistry. We explain what dental materials and practices are better for dental wellness and overall health. We believe that our independence allows us to take a more critical, science based look at the materials and practices used in dentistry and to point the way towards safer materials and better practices. We are part of a movement that advocates “biological” dentistry, a dentistry to sees the effects on the whole patient and so is sometimes called "holistic." Perhaps every dentist should be holistic in his or her practices and choices of materials because every patient needs to have his/her health protected and, for some patients, improvements in health can be found by safely replacing old dental amalgam (mercury) fillings by more biologically compatible white fillings. If you want to better understand the dental mercury controversy, the effects of mercury on health, safe amalgam removal, mercury detox, dental material choices, the truth about fluoride, the root canal controversy and more, you have come to the right place. We have articles on all of these issues and more, and we have lists of biological dentists in every state and province, and in many countries of the world, and we can make all of that information available to you via e-mail or mail, if not on this immediate web site.
So, yes, explore this web site, get an overview of what our message is, and then contact us for more information that will help answer your specific questions and address your specific concerns. We urge you to request a free "information packet" that will be tailored to who you are and where you are. It will have a list of DAMS practitioners in your state, province or region, and it can include articles specific to your immediate concerns - be it crowns, a possible tooth extraction, jawbone disease, replacing missing teeth, or something else. Let us know and we will get you an information packet that is tailored to you. Furthermore, DAMS has staff that can respond to your e-mailed questions or even to a phone call. We are old fashioned that way and can provide an old fashioned person to person conversation.

Mercury Filling Toxicity
In America and most other countries, toxic materials and harmful practices are still commonly used in dentistry and, sad to say, the federal and state regulators do not protect us from mercury and other toxic hazards. While mercury is the one that probably inflicts the most harm, copper, silver, palladium and cadmium are still used in dental materials. The most commonly used dental filling, found in over 100 million Americans, is the “silver” filling, which is also called a “silver amalgam,” or just “amalgam” filling. This metallic filling is a grave danger, as it is about half mercury and it gives off the patient a significant mercury exposure, typically more than mercury from food, water and air combined. Based the mounting scientific and clinical evidence of harm to children and to people of all ages these mercury fillings should be banned in every country of the world.

Fluoride and Fluoridation
Fluoride is another poison used extensively in dentistry Fluoride is used extensively in dentistry and fluoride is the active ingredient in fluoride toothpastes where, strong poison that it is, it poisons many germs. Scientific research and clinical evidence shows that fluoride use is a big mistake. Water fluoridation has no benefits and is largely a scam and it causes extensive damage to teeth, to oral health, and to overall health. We oppose all of these uses of fluoride.

Safe Removal of Mercury Fillings
Why a “biological” dentist is needed in order to
assure that the mercury amalgam filling removal is safe.
assure that the mercury amalgam filling removal is safe.
Some people who contact DAMS have made the mistake of letting a “regular” dentist be the one to remove the amalgam fillings. Unsafe removal often results in a worsening of symptoms and maybe even the appearance of new symptoms and new disorders. We caution against making the mistake of going to a "regular" dentist and allowing unsafe amalgam removal!
